What We Do

Founded in 2016 by Dawn Hurd,  Hurd & Co has evolved from a table top scarf seller to an influential

ethical fashion brand.

 

Championing conscious fashion, Hurd & Co are committed to providing a sustainable, ethical business model in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

 

Two goals the brand aligns with are:

Goal Number 12, Responsible Consumption and Production.  

Goal Number 6 Clean Water & Sanitation.

 

We are committed to the reduction of waste through the provision of recycled, reusable and biodegradable packaging.  Our boxes, tissue paper, card and tape are all made from recycled fibre.  It is not dyed or bleached using chlorine and is made in the UK.  We also provide reusable jute sacs as part of our packaging provision.

 

The brand fully intends to promote the efficient use of natural resources to provide a luxury, sustainable collection of contemporary, knitwear with a key focus on natural, biodegradable yarn. Supporting, where possible, the British farming industry by using 100% renewable and sustainable British Blue Faced Leicester wool, which carries the British Wool logo, alongside a New Zealand Merino wool.

A registered supporter of The Campaign for Wool  Hurd & Co are happy to promote the benefits of using this natural resource. By choosing a natural dye process for our yarn we are eliminating the need to release hazardous chemicals into water supplies. All of our garments are embellished with renewable cork leather tags.

 

As part of the development process for a fair trade policy and honouring a commitment towards social inclusion we are developing an outreach programme to help combat isolation, loneliness and depression amongst the elderly living within rural communities.
